(WBTV) &#8211; The line of cars circling the Mecklenburg County Courthouse Tuesday evening are drivers demanding rent and mortgage payments be put on pause because of the pandemic.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">This is a nationwide movement to protect families against evictions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The protest was strategically scheduled for Tuesday because it\u2019s the first of the month \u2013 a time when rent is due for a lot of people.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Instead of rent, this group of people wants relief for the people not receiving paycheck because of job loss tied to the pandemic.<\/p>\n<div class=\"arc-ad | d-flex flex-column ad-type-flex-leaderboard ad-article-inline include-disclaimer justify-content-center text-center\">\n<div class=\"arc-ad-wrapper |\">\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cIt\u2019s a widely known problem and it\u2019s not being treated like a widely known problem. It\u2019s treated business as usual and it\u2019s not going to continue. We have to stand up and we have to fight back,\u201d said Apryl Lewis, one of the Charlotte organizers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">This group is volunteering for Action North Carolina. An organization that prides itself on standing up for families fighting poverty and socioeconomic disparities.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The car horns and chants were directed at the people who help run eviction courts and the Mecklenburg County Sheriff\u2019s Office, as sheriff deputies are the ones who deliver eviction notices.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The bottom line is, they want officials to give grace.
